![]() On one hand, I get it, the group is important. I got incredibly frustrated with him when he started referring to the group as a whole rather than himself. My issue came up when Caleb started talking which I feel like this is when most issues happen in his relationships bad joke sorry. Just because she can’t run from herself doesn’t mean she can’t change. She’s limiting herself so much by thinking about what everyone else wants from her. I think if Nott let go of some of this pressure on herself, she wouldn’t feel so obligated to choose between her two lives and her two loves. But, I don’t think she really gets that and ends up projecting it onto decisions like to stay or go, to drink or not to drink, all of these other external factors. She is still going to feel that way because it’s inside of her. Whether she stays or goes won’t make a difference. Nott feels an intense pressure to be what people want her to be (a wife, a mother, a protector, an adventurer). Now, I don’t think that choosing between her two lives would really make a difference. But now we see Nott admitting how protective she feels of the nein, how she believes it is her responsibility to keep them all safe, to be there for all of them. Originally, I put this in the context of choosing between her domestic life back with Yeza and Luc and her adventuring life with Caleb and the Nein. I’ve briefly talked about this before, but I think it is particularly relevent here in this conversation and sheds light on how deep these issues are. ![]() To his credit, Caleb shut up and listened to her, which I really appreciated. You don’t understand how scary it is, how it helps me, why I drink. I admire her for standing up to Caleb, especially, and saying you don’t understand why I’m drinking. ![]() Nott’s “are we really going to have this conversation” had me worried she was going to get defensive and close up, but she was really honest. This got really long so I’m putting it under a cut. I haven’t seen anyone else talk about these moments, so I am definitely interested in hearing others’ thoughts! Please share!! This time specifically about the conversation at the end of 76 and then then in 83 or 84 when Nott is talking to Halas. I am having more Caleb and Nott feelings unsurprisingly.
